There are so many signs that you might want to include in your wedding. Some signs help guests find their way around, others are simply adding to the ambience. Let’s take a look at ten wedding signs to give you an idea, but the possibilities are endless.
Easel signs
A great way to display large signs is on an easel. The easel and the frame can be simple or decorative. You can also have a sign stand on an easel without a frame. it’s totally up to you and how you want to match your wedding decorations and your budget. The following signs are best to be displayed large and recommended at 16×20; 18×24; 20×30 or 24×36 inches.
1. Welcome sign
Is a sign that does exactly that, it welcomes the guests to your wedding ceremony and reception. The typical welcome sign has a welcome message, the names of the bride and groom and the date of the wedding. Best place for this sign is next to the entrance where the guests will be entering the venue or the specific hall where your wedding is held. The lettering on the sign should be big enough to be read at a distance. You can create just one and if your reception is in a different place from the ceremony, you can task a brides maid to simply relocate it after the ceremony is finished.
2. Seating chart
A lists of all the guests and their assigned table number at the reception. Depending on the number of guests you invite, you might need multiple charts to display all the names or find another creative way to display them. Most simple form of a seating chart would be on an easel that you place as the guests enter the reception area. The guests will walk up to find their names, so the lettering doesn’t need to be large. My recommendation would be to choose the same size as you’ve done for the welcome sign.
Table top signs
Smaller signs that you place throughout your wedding are typically found at the reception. These signs mainly sit on top of a table and don’t need to be too big. The following signs are recommended at 8×10 inches (unless noted otherwise). Note: if you’re printing the signs at home or at a local print shop, to fit the sign into a frame you’ll need to trim your letter size paper from 8.5×11 inches to 8×10 inches to fit into a standard 8×10 size frame.
3. Table numbers
A must have if you have assigned tables for the guests. Table number signs can be as small as 4×6 or 5×7 inches. As the sign typically only shows the number of the table, it doesn’t require to be too big. You’ll need as many table number signs as you have tables so keep in mind your budget when planning these out.
4. Guest book
A sign that asks the guest to sign your guest book. This sign can range from simply saying “please sign our guestbook” to a more elaborate sign that has instructions for the guests.
5. Cards & Gifts
A sign that shows your guests where to place those special cards and gifts.
6. Favors
A sign that gives the guests a “permission” to take a favor. Some guests might be shy from taking anything, expecting that the favors will be given out. The favor sign shows to guests that each can help themselves to take one favor as a thank you for celebrating your special day.
7. Candy Bar/Dessert table
Who can really miss a dessert table? This sign is mainly there for decoration purposes. You can also use it as a menu to show the guests what type of treats are on the table and note anything that has nuts for guests with any allergies.
8. Bar sign
This sign can be used in multiple ways. If you’re having an Open Bar at your wedding reception, use this sign to tell your guests exactly that. If you’re serving only certain kind of brands or drinks, then use this sign as a drink menu. Another way to use the bar sign is to write out specialty drinks that your bar tender will be serving that evening.
9. Menu sign
If you choose to place one single menu per table instead of giving each guest a menu, then a 8×10 inch menu sign can be placed next to the centerpiece. This sign shows the guests exactly what they can expect to eat throughout the evening.
10. Hashtag sign
You know your guests will be snapping photos of you and each other with their phones. Your photographer can’t capture all these candid moments. Be sure to create an easy-to-type social media hashtag for your guests to use. You can place this sign either at the sign-in table or a few signs throughout your venue where your guests are typically to gather like the guestbook area, the bar area and the dessert area.
